Rarner Gin

View BottleApricots from sun-drenched slopes, wine from steep vineyards, larches above the valley: the Valais is a pantry — and Johann Gin is its distilled form.
The Valais is the driest, sunniest valley in Switzerland — ideal for apricots, grapes and intense mountain herbs. These ingredients are not marketing but our recipe: the Valais apricot shapes Rarner Gin, and Valais wine forms the base of all our distillates.
We distil in Raron, between vineyards and railway line, in a small family distillery: Salzmann Distillery, founded by Robin and Prisca Salzmann.
You do not have to travel to the Valais to drink Valais gin: order Rarner, Hiemalis and Solstice in the online shop in a few clicks — delivered by post across Switzerland.
And if you do find yourself in the valley: join a tasting at the distillery or find our bottles at regional stockists — the stockists map shows where.
As regional as possible: apricots and wine from the Valais, larch wood from the mountain forests, plus classic gin botanicals like juniper and coriander.
A softer, almost creamy texture and a longer finish than gins on neutral spirit — the wine’s fruit carries the botanicals without dominating them.
