The Gin Distillery in the Rhône Valley

Between vineyards and larch forests, at the foot of Raron’s hilltop church: this is where Salzmann Distillery makes its gins — and opens its doors to anyone who wants to see how.

A family distillery in the Valais

Founded by Robin and Prisca Salzmann, the distillery belongs to the young generation of Swiss producers who take regionality seriously: Valais wine as the base, apricots and berries from the valley, larch wood from the forests above. Three gins — Rarner, Hiemalis, Solstice — and handmade schnapps are created here in small batches.

Tastings and visits

At a tasting you sample all three gins where they are made — with a view of the still and first-hand stories. We welcome groups on request; ideal for clubs, teams and private occasions. The trip pays off twice: Raron sits in the middle of the Rhône valley’s hiking and wine country.
