Premium gin

Premium Gin, Made Verifiable

“Premium” appears on many labels. We give the word substance: a base of Valais wine, botanicals with traceable origin, and batches small enough that each one counts.

How to recognise premium

Three questions unmask any label: what is the gin distilled on? Where do the botanicals come from? Who actually made it? For Johann Gin the answers are short: on Valais wine; from the Rhône valley and the mountains above it; Robin and Prisca Salzmann in Raron. No contract distilling, no anonymous neutral spirit.

The price of handwork

A wine base costs several times more than industrial alcohol, and small batches demand more handwork per bottle — in return you get a distillate with texture and origin that proves itself neat as well as in a cocktail. With us, premium is not a surcharge for the label but the countervalue of the contents.

Frequently Asked Questions

What separates premium gin from cheap gin?

Base alcohol, botanical quality and care in distillation. Cheap gins flavour neutral spirit; premium gins distil real ingredients in small batches.

How do you enjoy a premium gin?

First neat at room temperature — that shows its full profile. Then in a tonic or cocktail, where quality makes the difference.

Which Johann Gin is the most “premium”?

All three are made to the same standards. Solstice is the most puristic — for many connoisseurs the house’s calling card.
