Small batch

Small Batch: Class over Mass

A small still forces decisions a large plant never has to make — and precisely those decisions are what you taste in the glass.

What small batches can do

In a small batch, the hearts cut — the moment when only the best distillate is collected — can be set precisely by hand. Large plants automate that cut; small distilleries taste it. Add freshness: small batches mean short storage between bottling and sale.

Small batch in Raron

Our copper pot still in Raron deliberately holds little. Every batch of Rarner, Hiemalis or Solstice is set up, tasted and released individually — by the same two people whose names stand on the label. If you particularly like one bottle: the batch number tells you which it was.

Frequently Asked Questions

How big is a “small” batch?

There is no legal threshold — what matters is that every batch can be tasted and vouched for individually. That is the case with us.

Can you really taste the difference?

In direct comparison with industrial product: yes — above all in texture and finish. Best convince yourself neat, at room temperature.

Do small batches sell out faster?

Occasionally yes — especially Hiemalis before Christmas. To be sure, order early in the online shop.
